Laura has been involved in democratic education since the 1960s as a progressive educator, activist, and founder of publicly-funded progressive and democratic schools. Laura is co-founder and Executive Director of the Northwest Institute for Democratic Education, Inc., a tax-exempt non-profit, whose mission is to advance the progress of democratic education in the Northwest United States.
