Center for Democracy and Citizenship

For two decades, the Center for Democracy and Citizenship has led in the field of civic engagement by using theory-based practices to make democracy a way of life. In addition to conducting ongoing research, the center actively collaborates with schools, such as Jane Addams School for Democracy, and community-based organizations. The Center for Democracy and Citizenship collaborates with a variety of partners to promote active citizenship and public work by people of all ages. The center's work is grounded in the belief that a healthy democracy requires everyone's participation, and that each of us has something to contribute.

About the Center for Democracy and Citizenship:

• The Center for Democracy and Citizenship works in partnership with Augsburg College and the University of Minnesota.  
• The Center also provides materials and training, including the internationally-recognized youth civic action organizing model, Public Achievement, which was developed at the Center.
• The Center offers courses and customized training designed to bring democratic purpose into workplaces, classrooms, and communities.
• The Center engages in Education through multiple programs such as Learning in Cities (K-12), Twin Cities Teacher Collaborative (K-12/higher education), and National Civic Agency Initiative with AASCU schools (higher education)
