The Lyons Academic Program provides students with authentic learning that prepares them for college and lifelong learning, a personalized experience, habits of healthy living, and a voice in creating the school. The curriculum is made up of experiential and hands-on learning, including weekly field studies. Classes are designed to meet the needs of students who come to the school and each student has a personalized education plan that is updated quarterly, with the help of an advisor and the student’s family.
The Lyons Community School balances academics, arts and physical wellness for the ideal education, emphasizing emotional and social education in addition to academics. Town meetings and advisory allow students to be fundamental in school creation and change. Students, families, staff and communities members all contribute to the school leadership
Nuestra Escuela ("Our School") provides educational services to youth and adults out of school who never completed their studies at higher level. It enrolls 350 students who are typically between ages 13 and 22, and maintains strong connections with the students' families. The vast majority of students have had major academic or life challenges.
