PS 28 Warren Prep Academy

PS 28 Warren Prep Academy

The mission of the Warren Prep Academy is to teach all children how to read, write, think, compute, speak well, love the arts, and behave in socially acceptable ways in order to become economically independent contributing members of society.

The school’s curriculum is grounded in the core beliefs that all students can engage in the learning process, that all students can learn and achieve at the highest levels, and that all students are gifted and talented. These beliefs are supported through educators who believe that they can nurture and fortify students’ love of learning through a supportive learning community, filled with positive attitudes, that allow the community to celebrate each student’s successes, big and small.

This year, Warren Prep Academy will become one of the first schools in New York City to implement a school-wide approach to restorative practices. The entire staff will be trained in 12 essential elements that will promote discipline as restorative practice instead of a punitive practice. As a school, Warren Prep is aware of the importance of treating students with dignity and respect and believes in providing students with the skills necessary to become productive citizens. Educators at Warren Prep are firm believers that students will work hard for teachers they feel care about them. Students who continue to do well academically and socially will be rewarded by taking part in Rock Star Fridays, Special Trips, and In Class Celebrations.
