A Semi-Regional Approach

IDEA Organizers are selected based on who we think are the people and organizations best suited to build capacity and meet the goals of this effort and IDEA's larger strategy. Eventually, we hope to select an organizer for each of the 11 Districts of the US Courts, in order to build a presence every region, and eventually every state, in the country.

Region 1: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island

Region 2: New York, Vermont and Connecticut

Region 3: New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania

Region 4: Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., North Carolina, and South Carolina

Region 5: Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas

Region 6: Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee

Region 7: Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin

Region 8: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, and Arkansas

Region 9: Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Hawaii

Region 10: Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, and New Mexico

Region 11: Alabama, Florida, and Georgia

IDEA Organizers

There's an urgent need to educate for empowerment, justice, and democracy, but many of those who care aren't working together yet. IDEA's community organizers work toward meaningful, community-driven change in education.

The current team of community organizers will be active through June 2012. We will release a call for new organizers in late spring.

Meet our 2011-2012 Community Organizers.

Goals of IDEA Organizing

  1. Build relationships, online and in person, between youth, educators, youth workers, parents, school administrators, and policy makers.

  2. Discover the needs and interests of each constituency and support the communication of those needs and interests.

  3. Support people to take action on their interests (both individual and shared) and mobilize their local and regional resources towards meeting those needs in alignment with IDEA's mission.
