Jackson Youth Elevators of Tomorrow Summer 2021 Showcase

In the summer 2021, IDEA and Jackson Public Schools began a partnership to lead a youth voice and engagement project that supports JPS students to research community issues they care about and create solution-oriented action plans to fix them (read all about the project here). The group of six student leaders who go by the name Jackson Youth Elevators of Tomorrow (JYEOT) spent the summer training in YPAR methods (Youth Participatory Action Research) and have conducted an action research project on teen mental health in Jackson.

We are honored to share JYEOT’s full showcase focused on teen mental health in Jackson here:

JYEOT kindly requests viewers to offer feedback on their findings: https://tinyurl.com/JYEOTShowcase

The Jackson Youth Elevators of Tomorrow reach a great milestone with this first showcase focused on teen mental health. The student leaders are set to continue their work throughout the school year and implement their action plans presented in the showcase. JYEOT will also be expanding and welcoming in a newly selected cohort of 24 JPS high school students this year as they work to further identify and address issues in Jackson that are relevant to them.

Way to go Jackson Youth Elevators of Tomorrow!
